Spiced hot chocolate

This was a really warming treat for our autumn picnic, it’s really simple to make and great to have in a flask on a chilly day. You can of course have a play around and alter it to suit your taste but try not to leave out the vanilla, it really does make the difference and always handy to have in the cupboard.

1 pint of milk (full fat or semi skimmed – your choice!)

¼ teaspoon chilli powder

¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

3 tablespoons cocoa powder

3 tablespoons golden caster sugar

Put it all in a pan, stir and heat! Avoid boiling the milk so it stays really creamy.
